Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim on stiffer penalties for motorists who breach 'silver zone' rules

01:45 Min
The authorities will come down harder on irresponsible motorists in "silver zones" to better protect elderly pedestrians. Motorists who violate the rules, such as those who speed or use mobile devices while driving, will be slapped with two extra demerit points and fined an additional S$100, on top of the usual penalties. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, who said this in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4) in reply to an MP's question, added that the details will be announced later this year.
