Koh Poh Koon on the need for migrant workers amid COVID-19 pandemic

Singapore requires migrant workers to support key economic sectors such as construction, as well as families’ caregiving needs, said Senior Minister of State for Health Koh Poh Koon in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 16). As many of these workers are from India and Indonesia, Singapore must manage the risk of letting them in, instead of shutting them out. Dr Koh said this in response to an MP's question about why Singapore does not close its borders to travellers from these countries, given that they make up a disproportionately large number of imported cases.
