PUB will develop a Coastal-Inland Flood Model this year to holistically manage coastal and inland flooding risks, said Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4). Another S$1.36 billion will also be spent on drainage works over the next five years, with 10 projects starting this year. Also this year, coastal protection studies will begin in the City-East Coast area and Jurong Island. Ms Fu also spoke about decarbonising the water sector and how Singapore is moving towards becoming a zero-waste nation.
