Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 5: Gerald Giam on easing Temporary Development Levy pressure for businesses

Some businesses have lamented that their Temporary Development Levy (TDL) deals exceed revenue, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. If they cannot pay the TDL, they may have to close down. MP Gerald Giam, who raised this concern in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), wanted to know if the Urban Redevelopment Authority can consider giving the affected businesses rebates or deferments. He also had questions on ensuring that tenants are better protected.
