Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Yeo Wan Ling on whether decarbonisation will be a reality for Singapore

01:23 Min
While ambitions to raise the capacity of solar capabilities six-fold by 2030 is impressive, Singapore's reliance on traditional sources of energy is still glaring, said MP Yeo Wan Ling in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). She pointed to its small physical size, high population density and land scarcity that limit its green potential. She asked: "As we speak, about 95 per cent of our electricity is generated from natural gas sources. How then can we be assured that decarbonisation will be a reality for Singapore?"
