Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Saktiandi Supaat on decarbonising the electricity grid

With the push for digitalisation and innovation, demand for energy is on the rise, said MP Saktiandi Supaat in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). From data centres to electric transport to smart technology, all these require electricity. Also, as most people are virtually spending their entire day online to work, study and play, this insatiable appetite for data comes at a significant environmental cost, he said. He asked if there are other key efforts to decarbonise the electricity grid and how power generation companies could contribute to those efforts.
