Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Gerald Giam on increasing university places

01:36 Min
In Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3), MP Gerald Giam asked if Singapore’s autonomous universities can open up more places, to raise the cohort participation rate to 50 per cent from 42 per cent last year. He said this will allow more deserving Singaporeans to benefit from the tuition grant scheme and high quality of local university education, instead of paying substantially more to study abroad or at private education institutions.
