Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Gan Siow Huang responds to MPs' queries and suggestions

Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang addressed queries and proposals from MPs in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). She announced that the SGUnited Traineeships Programme would be extended by a year to 31 March 2022 and that training allowances for Institute of Technical Education and polytechnic graduates would be raised. On the treatment of foreign domestic workers (FDWs), she said "our society has no place for cruelty to anyone". She noted that the Penal Code was enhanced in 2020 to double the maximum punishment against those who abuse vulnerable people including FDWs.
