Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Darryl David on contemporising university education

In today’s world, it is not so much about what you know as what you can do, and Singapore should strive to contemporise university education to reflect this reality, said MP Darryl David in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). He suggested a model where students get practical experience via internships or attachments before entering university, and a model where students alternate between work and study stints. He also urged universities to value educators who can bring a wealth of experience and functional expertise in the corporate world.
