Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Shawn Huang on supporting SMEs as engines of economic growth

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have the potential to significantly boost economic growth, said MP Shawn Huang. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), he said SMEs are in a better position to integrate proven practices and technologies as they are more agile. They can be more innovative and cut through traditional industry boundaries. However, they lack resources and access to talent. He wanted to know how the Government will be helping local enterprises grow and build capabilities to compete globally, as well as transform and seize opportunities to emerge stronger.
