Although it is understandable that the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) would increase some costs for the lift and escalator sector, some vendors have increased their maintenance fees substantially, said Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2). As such, he asked about the role Government bodies such as the Building and Construction Authority play to protect Singaporeans, HDB dwellers and other consumers from unjustified hikes in the guise of adherence to the PWM.
