Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Patrick Tay on better protection for gig economy workers

The labour movement wants to see better protection for gig economy workers, said MP Patrick Tay. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), he urged the Government to review the Trade Unions Act to allow freelancers to become union members and enjoy the benefits that the labour movement offers. They should also be better represented and protected under laws such as the Industrial Relations Act, he said.
