The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed more workers into the gig economy, said MP Louis Chua. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), he raised concerns that a "sizeable" part of the workforce is not protected by employment laws and regulations. He wanted to know if more can be done to protect the interests of such workers through a safety net that includes mandatory insurance and minimum levels of benefits.
