Parents can help young people broaden their career aspirations and widen the definition of success to consider the opportunities that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offer. Rebrand SMEs as "employers of choice", given that Singapore has many local enterprises which have made good. Help SMEs adopt modern management practices, so that they can be nurtured into globally competitive homegrown firms. MP Gerald Giam floated these ideas in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), as he called for more to be done to help SMEs attract and retain talent.
