The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has weakened public confidence in the ability of governments to respond to public health threats, said MP Wan Rizal. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), he said many countries will need to better prepare for the next pandemic, including against biological threats. As global health issues can and will have an impact on national security, he asked the Defence Minister for his plans to strengthen Singapore's defence against future pandemics and other potential biological threats.
