Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Sylvia Lim on 'unusual' demands for law enforcers due to COVID border closures

Borders are mostly closed but additional controls and paperwork mean officers have to be redeployed or additional manpower may be needed to manage foreigners awaiting repatriation. MP Sylvia Lim raised this concern in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1) and asked if additional holding areas are needed. She also said the continued presence of people who have been convicted and sentenced may pose additional risks. She wanted to know how the authorities have been managing the "unusual" manpower requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
