Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Shawn Huang on harnessing new technologies for defence

The Singapore Armed Forces must be ready to reap the potential offered by new technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and the Internet of Things, said MP Shawn Huang in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1). He said the SAF is in a good position to do this because even as its pool of full-time NSmen is projected to fall, new generations are more educated and digitally literate. Mr Huang pointed out that security threats are evolving and conflicts may increasingly be waged not in physical realms, but in cyberspace.
