Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Murali Pillai on 'hyper humans' of Home Team transformation

Home Team officers must be a mix of psychologist, social worker, community partner, law enforcer and a friendly but authoritative face. MP Murali Pillai, who listed these roles in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), wanted to know how the Home Team can strike the right balance between these competing demands. He said the challenge for the Home Team is to make an "even more transformational change" so that its officers can undertake their duties as "hyper humans". He asked the Government for an update on its plans to upgrade the skills of its officers.
