Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Murali Pillai on helping ex-inmates gain employment

In Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), MP Murali Pillai said that on average, 9,862 inmates were released each year between 2018 and 2020. He pointed out that one of the ways to help ex-inmates turn over a new leaf was to give them decent jobs, and urged Yellow Ribbon Singapore to consider including short-sentence ex-inmates in their programmes instead of focusing mainly on long-sentence ex-inmates.
