Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap on allowing traffic penalties to be paid in instalments

In Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), MP Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap spoke about allowing traffic fines to be paid in instalments, specifically for first-time offenders from low-income groups and recipients of the Government's financial assistance schemes. While he acknowledged the aim of the penalty is to act as a deterrence to ensure road safety, he called for a compassionate view on the issue, to avoid pushing such individuals into deeper financial predicaments.
