Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Gerald Giam on mediation between disputing neighbours

01:52 Min
Disputes between neighbours are among the most chronic issues in public housing estates, said MP Gerald Giam in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), adding that residents are often reluctant to go to the Community Disputes Resolution Tribunal. He called for the Community Mediation Centre (CMC) to make attendance compulsory for both parties during mediation. He also proposed that the CMC be manned by full-time professionals instead of volunteers, and for there to be greater public awareness of the CMC and its role.
