Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Don Wee on how MINDEF, SAF are meeting threat from climate change

02:12 Min
Singapore faces a disproportionately large threat from climate change, said MP Don Wee in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1). He had several questions for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). He asked how MINDEF is reducing energy and water consumption within its buildings, bases and fleets, what are its sustainability requirements for procurement, and how does it process its waste. Mr Wee also wanted to know if SAF will tap more green technologies in its field operations and training, whether it produces carbon offsets and if so, what the quantum was last year.
