Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Alex Yam on keeping SAF operationally ready amid COVID-19 pandemic

Singapore faces threats around the clock and this does not change with COVID-19, said MP Alex Yam in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1). He stressed the need for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to be ready at all times. He noted that the pandemic has disrupted many aspects of the SAF's operational readiness, such as training and exercises at home and abroad. He wanted to know how the Defence Ministry will maintain the SAF's operational readiness to keep Singapore safe, as well as its long-term plans to manage the challenges of a prolonged pandemic.
