Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 1: Leon Perera on improving listed companies' sustainability reports

01:14 Min
In Parliament on Friday (Feb 26), MP Leon Perera said the current "comply or explain" policy on sustainability reporting for listed companies has resulted in inconsistencies in reporting methods and quality in data disclosure. This renders the reports ineffective due to the lack of comparability among listed companies, he said. Mr Perera proposed moving to a mandatory regime as some other major stock exchanges have done.
