Budget 2021 debate: Tan Yia Swam on building social cohesion

In Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25), NMP Tan Yia Swam said Singapore must not neglect to nurture the softer aspects of society to build cohesion. She gave examples of appreciation and support received by the healthcare community at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Tan, who is a surgeon, also said that as “Dr Google” becomes more popular, people need help to be more discerning in taking charge of their own health so that they do not run the risk of being misinformed.
