Budget 2021 debate: Raj Joshua Thomas on improving outsourced workers' lot

An important part of our social compact has to be a commitment to take care of the people who take care of us, said NMP Raj Joshua Thomas in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25), in reference to outsourced workers. He noted the undesirable conditions that they have had to put up with and urged the Government to mandate improvements, such as getting service buyers to provide rest areas for outsourced workers. He also called for shorter working hours for security officers from the current 12-hour shift.
