Budget 2021 debate: Leon Perera on preparing workers, students for the future economy

Singapore must take a proactive, not reactive approach to protecting workers in sectors that are likely to be disrupted in the next five to 15 years, by nudging them to reskill and switch to new growth industries. This can be done by setting up trade bodies in such industries to run campaigns, possibly through social media. The education system must also ramp up capacity for high-demand skills and encourage students to consider them. MP Leon Perera made these points in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25).
