Pay healthcare workers better, offer them better career prospects and perks, and improve their work environment and conditions. MP Darryl David made this call in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 24), as a way to wean off the reliance on foreign nurses. He urged the Government to "double down" on the recommendations made by the Future Nursing Career Review Committee and make the profession more attractive for local Singaporeans. He proposed mandatory leave and paid holidays, as well as a mid-career conversion programme for those who wish to join the nursing profession.
