Truck driver, 56, dies in 5-vehicle accident in Chua Chu Kang; 2 other people taken to hospital
SINGAPORE — A 56-year-old truck driver died after an accident involving three heavy vehicles and two cars along Choa Chu Kang Way on Monday (Jan 29) afternoon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics, after he was found trapped in the driver’s seat.
SCDF officers freed the man using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Responding to TODAY’s queries, the police said that they were alerted to the accident at 2pm on Monday.
SCDF said that two other persons were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and another two, who declined to go to hospital, were assessed for minor injuries at the scene.
A video of the accident was posted on Singapore Roads Accident's Facebook page on Monday, showing two trucks and two cars in front of a heavily damaged road tanker following a collision.
Debris can be seen scattered on the road.
Police investigations are ongoing.
