Trailer driver, 26, arrested after accident along BKE; motorcyclist injured
SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old trailer truck driver was arrested for allegedly driving carelessly and causing grievous hurt, after an accident on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).
In response to TODAY's queries, the police said that they were alerted to an accident involving a trailer truck and a motorcycle along the BKE towards Woodlands at about 6.20pm on Wednesday (Nov 1).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted around 6.25pm to the accident just before the Turf Club Avenue exit. A motorcyclist was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The police said that the 26-year-old male motorcyclist was conscious when taken to the hospital.
A clip that lasted slightly more than a minute showing the aftermath of the accident has drawn close to 10,000 views on TikTok within 14 hours.
Posted by TikTok user "liah8676" on Wednesday evening, the video shows two people directing cars to keep to their left on the BKE.
Paramedics were seen tending to a man, who is lying the ground next to a trailer. The front of the trailer, which was next to the road divider, was facing oncoming traffic.
Several motorists are seen standing near the paramedics as well.
In another video by TikTok user "sandhusaab0819" — which had more than 13,000 views in 16 hours — two lanes of the BKE can be seen cordoned off, with a tow truck and a police car parked near the trailer truck.
