Highlights: Budget 2024 announcements by Finance Minister Lawrence Wong

Budget 2024 lays out measures to implement plans set out in the Forward Singapore roadmap, says Mr Lawrence Wong.

Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan was speaking at an event organised by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, which explored Singapore's outlook for 2025 and beyond. 

SINGAPORE: In a world that will become more fragmented and unpredictable in the years to come, Singapore must be able to adjust and emerge stronger, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong said on Friday (Feb 16) as he presented the Budget statement.

Budget 2024 is also about taking steps to implement plans set out in the Forward Singapore roadmap - to grow the economy, create better jobs, have more paths for equality and mobility, as well as provide more assurance for families and seniors.

Several measures were announced, including payouts to help households with cost-of-living concernsSkillsFuture top-ups for Singaporeans aged 40 and above and CPF changes to help older Singaporeans boost their retirement funds.

The government also moved to make preschool more affordable as well as provide incentives for graduates from the Institutes of Technical Education (ITE) to further their education.
