Fans of Leslie Cheung now have a newly released song from the late Cantopop singer and actor that they can enjoy.

Universal music issued a previously unreleased recording of Cheung’s 1999 hit, Four Seasons, on Saturday (Sep 12) on what would have been the star’s 64th birthday. The song was released on streaming platforms.

The version, called Four Seasons A Balloon’s Journey, was discovered by Cheung’s long-time producer Alvin Leung, who had been going through the archives of Cheung’s recordings when he found it.

The song is one of 12 tracks on a new album called Revisit, to be released on Oct 16, that features new arrangements of Cheung’s classic songs.

Said Leung in a South China Morning Post article: “Leslie was always well prepared for the recording sessions. Four to five takes were all it took for him to attain perfection. Some vocals were not used in the (eventual recordings), but they were all well delivered.”

Also on Saturday, Japanese photographer Yasuo Kiyonaga, who had shot Cheung’s pictures for the photo book All About Leslie in 1998, posted a series of never-before-seen shots of the late star on Instagram.

Cheung died on Apr 1, 2003.
