The actor knew to seek treatment immediately this time. The first time he had appendicitis, he waited three days to get treated, causing his body to be "so septic" that doctors were unable to remove his appendix.

Actor Daniel Wu had to go for surgery recently after suffering a second attack of appendicitis, he announced on Instagram on Saturday (Sep 19).

Wu shared that he had his first attack in March 2019 and because he thought it was just a case of food poisoning, he didn’t seek treatment until three days later.

That delay caused his body to be “so septic” that doctors were unable to remove the appendix and he was treated with a course of antibiotics with no food for 10 days. The Tomb Raider actor said he lost 18 pounds, or 8kg, and he needed several months to recover.

Unfortunately, “the little b**tard flared up again” a few days ago, said Wu in his social media post, referring to his appendix.

And because of his previous experience, the actor knew to take it seriously this time and he went to the hospital immediately.

He added that he had surgery and “they were able to remove it once and for all” and he was recovering at home.

Fans and fellow celebrities sent messages of support in the comments section, urging Wu to get well soon.

Despite needing to go through surgery, Wu joked: “What are the chances of having two appendicitis?!?! I think I should buy a lottery ticket today!”

Wu recently offered additional reward money to help solve the case of an elderly Chinese woman in New York who was assaulted and set on fire in July.
