It may only be April but the National Stadium has echoed with Kit Chan’s iconic National Day Parade (NDP) song – Home.

American singer Bruno Mars kicked off his three-night Singapore concert on Wednesday (Apr 3), and like several stars that came before him, his concert featured a local touch.

Near the end of his almost two-hour concert, a member of Mars' band, John Fossitt, played an instrumental version of the 1998 NDP theme song, Home, on his keyboard.

The crowd began to sing along to the classic tune. Too bad Mars was not onstage at the time.

Besides Mars, American alternative rock band Weezer also performed Home at their 2023 concert at The Star Theatre.

Other international acts have also infused bits of local culture in their concerts.

During the Eras Tour, American superstar Taylor Swift’s dancer Kameron Saunders used Singlish phrases during the performance of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran performed JJ Lin’s Twilight with the local singer, and K-pop group Stayc sang a rendition of homegrown singer Sezairi’s It’s You.
